City of Brighton 2011 Appropriations Requests to Congressman Ed Perlmutter

Project Title: Job Training for At-Risk Youth
Amount Requested: $500,000
Jobs created or saved: 150

Project Description: The City of Brighton has a program to train at-risk youth ages 14 to 21 in new job fields, focused particularly on the strengths of the individual youth. Such fields include green jobs in the Brighton area. They are seeking funding to facilitate these services.

Taxpayer Impact: By providing this job training, we will help at-risk youth become productive members of our community and reduce the likelihood they will engage in criminal activity.

Project Title: South Brighton Water Infrastructure
Amount Requested: $950,000
Jobs created or saved: 1000

Project Description: This project will construct and extend a 24 inch diameter water line from the intersection of Chambers Road & 136th Avenue to 136th Avenue and Colorado Highway 85 to stimulate growth and development in a quadrant bordered by Colorado Highway 85 and E-470. This site is poised to become a renewable energy commercial center in Colorado.

Taxpayer Impact: This infrastructure is necessary to stimulate the commercial growth in south Brighton. It will pay off greatly through economic multiplier effect.
