Commerce City celebrates 25th anniversary of Pancake Breakfast

COMMERCE CITY – We’re making a flap over flapjacks, as Commerce City celebrates the 25th anniversary of its Pancake Breakfast. Tickets are now on sale for this annual event, coming May 1 to the Commerce City Recreation Center.

In honor of its 25th year, ticket prices are just $2.50 – a great price for a hearty breakfast of pancakes, butter, syrup, sausage and orange juice.

Recreation Center staff will serve up hot flapjacks 7-10 a.m. on Saturday, May 1 at the center, 6060 E. Parkway Drive. Buy your tickets at the door or in advance by calling 303-289-3764.

For 25 years, the Pancake Breakfast has helped raise funds for special-interest senior programs at the Commerce City Recreation Center. This year, proceeds will benefit the Music Makers, the Quilting Club and the Goodfriends Scholarship Fund.

The Music Makers are a group of seniors who enjoy singing at various public events throughout the year. They practice regularly at the Recreation Center and have a great time together. Membership is open to everyone with a love for performing.

The Quilting Club is made up of several talented stitchers who donate their time and skills to various community projects. Their quilts have helped raise money for various community events and programs. Two years ago, quilters donated several quilts and handmade teddy bears to a women’s shelter. Membership is open to all skill levels.

The Goodfriends Scholarship Fund is used to help underwrite senior memberships at the Recreation Center, giving seniors access to health and wellness programs, social opportunities and more.

Come help Commerce City celebrate 25 years of fund-raising through flapjacks – your tummy will thank you. For more information, contact the Recreation Center at 303-289-3764.
