Receive Information from RTD via Twitter and FaceBook

Denver, March 1, 2010 – The Regional Transportation District (RTD) has established an official presence on the popular social networking sites Facebook and Twitter. These sites will allow RTD to disseminate news, special events, fun facts and additional information about the RTD base system and the FasTracks program and receive input.

RTD can be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/RideRTD and on Twitter at www.twitter.com/RideRTD. As part of the launch onto these sites, RTD is giving away a Regional monthly pass to three Facebook fans and three Twitter followers who join by March 16. The randomly selected winners will be announced on Facebook and Twitter on March 17.

“RTD recognizes social media as one of the most important ways to communicate with our current and future passengers," said RTD General Manager Phil Washington. "We encourage the community to keep up with information about RTD and our FasTracks Program, and we look forward to hearing from you and getting to know you better.”

Facebook and Twitter are two additional tools that RTD will be using to communicate to the public. RTD will continue the use of both the RTD-Denver.com and RTD-FasTracks.com Web sites, and will help direct users to the information on these sites through Facebook and Twitter.

Both pages were started on February 1, with an internal promotion to staff. Through word of mouth, RTD now has more than 200 fans on Facebook and more than 50 followers of @RideRTD.

For route and schedule information, please call RTD’s Telephone Information Center at 303.299.6000. Call 303.299.6089 for the speech and hearing impaired. Visit RTD’s web site at RTD-Denver.com.
