Recreation Center offers exciting excursions throughout Colorado

COMMERCE CITY – The Recreation Center is really going places! Adults 50 and older are invited to come with us as we travel to Pike’s Peak, Cañon City , Glen Eyrie Castle , Gunnison and more in the coming months.

We’re planning several excursions each month -- everything from lunch and a movie to a 3-day trip to Gunnison and the beautiful sights there. Our trips are affordable and fun -- join us for as many as you can. All trips leave from and return to the Commerce City Recreation Center .

We’ll tour the Astor House in Golden during April, learn about Jewish culture at the Mizel Museum , hum along with the four-part harmony of the Longs Peak Barbershop Chorus, dine at the Bucksnort Saloon and Restaurant in Pine, and visit the Peterson Air and Space Museum .

In May, we’ll visit the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs , enjoy the music of MahlerFest in Lafayette , dine with sisters at the Abbey of St. Walberga, get into an authentic jazz experience, soak in some hot springs and more.

June trips include sheep dog demonstrations and more at the Estes Park Wool Market, the Museum of Prisons in Cañon City , gambling in Cripple Creek , the Greeley Stampede and Western Art Show, and a three-day trip to beautiful Gunnison , Colorado.

In July, we’ll ride the cog railway up Pike’s Peak, cheer on the Rockies at a home game, dance an Irish jig, explore a ghost town museum and tour the English-style Glen Eyrie castle.

We’ll root for the Rockies again in an August, play miniature golf, fish an area lake, take in a movie and visit the unique Swetsville Zoo with its many scrap-metal inhabitants.

Each month we also plan trips to the movies, fishing, gambling, shopping, Idaho Springs and more.

For additional information on trips, prices and schedules, visit the Recreation Center at 6060 E. Parkway Drive, call Vicki Masters at 303-289-3764 or view information in our online brochure at c3gov.com (click on Parks and Recreation).
