Senator Bennet Delivers Letter to Senate Leadership and President: "Comprehensive Immigration Reform is the Right Solution"

Colorado Reform Immigration for America Celebrates Critical Step

Colorado- Today, Senator Bennet (D-CO) delivered a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, along with Senate Leadership and the President, outlining his support for immigration reform and encouraging Congress to move on the issue swiftly. The following is a statement from Julie Gonzales, Colorado State Director for the Reform Immigration for America campaign:

"The time for comprehensive immigration reform is now, and today Senator Michael Bennet joined with thousands of Coloradans in calling on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to bring a bill on immigration reform this year. As part of the 'Stand Up for Immigration Reform' effort of the Reform Immigation FOR America campaign, Senator Bennet's leadership demonstrates the wide support for comprehensive immigration reform. His effort also highlights why it makes political sense to pass comprehensive immigration reform this year.

"Thousands of Coloradans have sent postcards and petitions, attended legislative meetings and town halls, traveled to Washington DC and to Las Vegas, all to make sure that Senator Bennet carried Colorado's cry for immigration reform to President Obama and Senator Harry Reid. Small businesses, labor, faith, and Latino organizations, agriculture and law enforcement all joined in giving testament to the need for real solutions.

"Senator Bennet heard this cry loud and clear and has courageously carried it to Washington.

"We now turn to Colorado's Senior Senator, Mark Udall, to ask, 'Where is Colorado's Senior Senator's leadership on immigration reform?'"
