Brighton Housing Authority designated as a High Performer

The Brighton Housing Authority (BHA) was recently certified as a “High Performer” by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Authority received a final score of 100 percent on their Section 8 Management Assessment Program (SEMAP) evaluation conducted by HUD for fiscal year 2009.

“The Brighton Housing Authority is very pleased to receive this certification from HUD,” said Joseph A. Espinosa, Brighton Housing Authority director of operations and development. “The ‘High Performer’ status represents the continued strive for excellence the Brighton Housing Authority works toward on a daily basis and it is gratifying to see BHA staff being recognized for their outstanding effort.”

The designation of a “High Performer” is based on an outstanding SEMAP score of 90 percent or better. The Authority’s next required SEMAP certification will be for fiscal year 2010.

The Brighton Housing Authority is a public corporation with boards appointed by City Council. The BHA mission is to provide affordable housing to low- and moderate-income people. In addition to public housing, housing authorities also provide other types of subsidized housing. The Brighton Housing Authority serves the entire city of Brighton.
