Commerce City Police Vehicle Rammed, Officer Injured

UPDATE: The suspect in this case was identified as Phillip Boldin (date of birth 08-06-67).

On Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at approximately 6:00p.m., the Commerce City Special Investigations Unit received information that a wanted felon was staying in a mobile home park in Commerce City.

The suspect was wanted for felony escape out of Boulder County and was believed to be armed and dangerous.

Officers located the suspect in the 6900 block of Highway 2 and conducted surveillance on the suspect.

At approximately 12:00a.m., Commerce City Officers attempted to stop the suspect from leaving in a vehicle, and the suspect drove directly at a marked Commerce City Police vehicle that was occupied by an officer. The suspect rammed the police vehicle, injuring the officer.

The officers on scene fired at the vehicle, hitting the suspect and passenger. Both parties were transported to Denver Health Medical Center, where the suspect was pronounced dead. The names are being withheld until family is notified.

This incident is being investigated by the Adams County Critical Incident Team.
