27J Board gains two members

The School District 27J Board of Education has two new members following an evening of interviews with candidates June 29.  Carolyn Horstman will represent Director District 6. Josette Alvarado will represent Director District 7.

Three candidates applied for the District 6 seat, which was vacated when Todd Cordrey resigned to continue his personal education. Two candidates applied for the District 7 seat, which was vacated when Lynn Ann Sheats resigned as president of the board to take a position as administrative secretary to the board and superintendent.

Horstman has a variety of office manager experience, including as an office manager for Horizon High School in Adams 12 and most recently at the Princeton Review.

Alvarado has been a substitute teacher for School District 27J, is a school volunteer and on the Parent-Teacher Association. She has seven years of experience as a human resource generalist.

The new members will be sworn in July 20 in the Educational Services Center. Their first board meeting will be in August.
