On July 24, 2010, Sheriff Doug Darr and the Adams County Sheriff's Office was awarded the “Pro Patria Award” by the Colorado Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

This award was presented at the 2010 ESGR Awards Banquet on Saturday, July 24, 2010, in Denver. The banquet was an opportunity for employers, community leaders, Colorado military service members, and ESGR volunteers to celebrate the contributions that each has made to the nation’s defense.

The Pro Patria Award is presented annually to employers in Colorado who have provided the most exceptional support of our national defense through leadership practices and personnel policies that support their employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.

Sheriff Darr stated, “I understand and admire those who serve as law enforcement officers and members of the United States Armed Forces. Their sacrifices and dedication to our freedom are beyond compare. I believe that we should do all we possibly can for those who defend our nation, preserve our liberty and ensure that we can raise our families in a free land and I believe that anything less is unacceptable.”
