Attention Parents of 27J Students

Due to drastic cuts by the State of Colorado for school funding children in School District 27J will face firsthand these effects when they return to school in August. Increased class sizes, additional fees for sports and after school activities both headline a long list of cutbacks that went into effect over the summer.

“Parents for 27J Students” is an ad hoc group of parents and local citizens who are concerned with the long term impacts of these cuts. They are hoping to investigate the possible cures and positive changes that can be made to help their student children learn and grow.

Parents for 27J Students held their first organizational meeting July 14. They elected local parents Richard Bonitz as their Chair and Karen Davolt as their Treasurer. The group intends to select several key areas as priorities where changes will lead to increased learning.

The group will hold its second meeting on August 4, 2010 at the School District 27J Main Office, 18551 E. 160th Ave. The meeting will start at 6:00 p.m. The meeting is open to anyone interested in participating in this endeavor.
