Brighton’s Teen Court begins fall session

Brighton teens are needed to participate in this fall’s Teen Court session to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. every other Wednesday beginning Oct. 6 through Dec. 15, at the Municipal Court, 3401 E. Bromley Lane. This program is designed to educate youth about the judicial process. No advanced registration is required.
Teen Court consists of teen “attorney’s” (with the assistance of adult attorneys), a teen jury and an adult judge. Participants take on a role and hear real cases of teens in grades 9-12 that have committed first-time misdemeanor offenses and have chosen to have their case appear in the Teen Court. The adult judge presides and the teen jury determines the sentence.

Teens that volunteer their time on Teen Court will be eligible for credit towards community service graduation requirements.

For more information, contact Rita Haddick with Brighton Municipal Court at 303-655-2083.
