Community encouraged to attend emergency preparedness class

The city of Brighton’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will host a free emergency preparedness class for individuals and families from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Brighton Police Department, 3401 E. Bromley Lane. The deadline to register is noon on Wednesday, Nov. 10.
The “Be Ready” class discusses basic emergency preparedness including planning, hazards, personal safety, hazmat/fire safety, terrorism and how to become better educated and involved within the community. Each participant will receive a first aid kit upon completion of the class.

The OEM provides planning, training, exercises and educational outreach programs related to natural and man-made disasters to assist and prepare citizens, government agencies and private/nonprofit organizations prior to, during and after a local emergency or disaster. They provide the “Be Ready” class on a quarterly basis.

To register, contact Rebecca Martinez, OEM, 303-655-2316, rmartinez@brightonco.gov or visit www.brightoncert.org.
