United Power Announces Winners of 2010 Holiday Card Coloring Contest

After carefully reviewing over 130 entries, the seven winning drawings for United Power’s 2010 Holiday Card Coloring Contest have been selected. Seven students have won $50 in cash and the honor of their drawing decorating the corporate holiday cards to be mailed by the electric cooperative this holiday season. The seven winning cards will be packaged and available for sale from United Power in November. Sales of the holiday cards will benefit Operation Round-Up, United Power’s charitable foundation. Winners can be viewed by clicking here.

A committee of employees narrowed the selection to the top four entries in each grade category and then all employees were invited to vote anonymously for their favorite drawings.

The coloring contest asked children in grades kindergarten through sixth to illustrate “How Electricity Makes My Holidays Bright”. The drawings detailed holiday memories of baking cookies, gifts that require electricity to operate, holiday lights hung both inside and outside, and many more creative ideas. All entries, including the winners in each grade category, can be viewed by clicking here.
