2011 Brighton State of the City theme "A New Dynamic Decade"

Brighton Mayor Dick McLean gave the 2011 Brighton State of the City Address at the award winning historical Brighton Armory. The message was one of looking forward while appreciating the city’s recent accomplishments.

In Brighton, the crime is down, businesses are being attracted and everything seems to be running smoothly under the control of city manager Manuel Esquibel. Mayor Mclean thanked manager Esquibel for keeping Brighton a stable and solid community. Mclean talked about a number of big business deals that could come to fruition in the near future that would be very beneficial to Brighton fiscally.

Mayor McLean expressed the importance of transparency in local government and praised the city’s PIO for meeting with the press openly on a regular basis. In addition, the City of Brighton can now be found on facebook and twitter and council meetings are streamed live on the internet and of course on local Brighton channel 8.

Brighton will also be moving into its new city hall location which was the old Adams County offices on south 4th in the near future. {William Halsey Quote from the speech: “There are no extraordinary men... just extraordinary circumstances that ordinary men are forced to deal with.”}
