Firefighters work hard to save home

BRIGHTON--At approximately 11:30 pm on Friday, January 28 Brighton firefighters were toned to a possible structure fire in the 16000 Block of E 112th Avenue. The first arriving engine reported heavy smoke about 2 miles from the location. When they arrived, they confirmed an involved structure fire to the home.

Crews requested that a second tone be sent out for more staffing as well as more tankers. Due to a lack of hydrants near the home, crews had to relay water from nearby hydrants. Four tankers were used as well as two fire engines. Approximately 50% of the home was saved, but the home is not livable at this time. The one person who was living in the home went to stay with family.

Approximately 27 firefighters including Commanding officers were on scene. No citizens or firefighters were injured in the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
