Commerce City welcomes new Economic Development Specialist

JULIE JACOBY WILL FOCUS ON EXPANDING RETAIL WITHIN THE CITY

COMMERCE CITY – Julie Jacoby has joined Commerce City as an economic development specialist. In this role, she will be focusing on expanding and supporting retail development within the city.

Jacoby’s 20-year professional career spans a variety of industries, including broadcasting, gaming, hospitality, retail, education, and manufacturing. Most notably, she served as the Director of Corporate Marketing & Communications for General Growth Properties, Inc., one of the country’s largest retail developers, where she oversaw 230 shopping malls around the country and managed the community and city relations for over 30 shopping mall development projects.

“I understand the challenges retail businesses face in this economic climate,” said Jacoby. “I look forward to demonstrating how these companies, both large and small, can thrive in Commerce City and help support their success with a variety of programs and services.”

As the daughter of small business owners, Jacoby saw first-hand the decisions retail business owners face. That knowledge led her to start her own marketing business focused on helping non-profits and small businesses cost effectively grow their venture through marketing. Most recently, Jacoby served as the senior marketing and communications manager for Loveland’s Hach Company. She is an alumna of Valparaiso University, with a bachelor’s degree in communications.

“I am proud to be a part of the Commerce City team. I look forward to working with the City leaders and business community to meet the area’s demand for retail and restaurants.” Jacoby stated.
