Commerce City Rotary Club Celebrates 50th Anniversary; Announces Annual Peach & Pear Sale

Commerce City, CO, (August 3, 2011) – Commerce City Rotary Club is celebrating their 50th Anniversary and is pleased to announce their annual Peach and Pear Sale Fundraiser! Commerce City Rotarians are hard at work all year long contributing to the health, education and well-being of families and children in the community. Many programs happen every year thanks to fundraisers like the Peach and Pear Sale and the generosity of community members.

Peach and pear orders are due by August 10th and will be delivered on August 20th. If you’ve never participated in this end-of-summer ritual, you must try this amazing fruit! Peaches are $19.75 for 10 pounds or $27.00 for 18 pounds. Pears are $18.50 for 10 pounds or $27.00 for 20 pounds. All proceeds go toward the countless community service projects that Rotary sponsors and participates in each year.

Commerce City Rotary projects include the dictionary drive in which Rotary Club purchases and distributes free new dictionaries to more than 550 third grade students who attend the seven Adams County School District 14 elementary schools. Rotary also purchases and puts together over 600 oral health kits for the second graders in District 14. Rotary makes college dreams come true by giving scholarships for high school students who may otherwise not have the resources to further their education. Finally, the Rotary Club sponsors the “Hearts and Soles” Program that purchases new shoes for local children in need. During the month of December, the Club will purchase shoes, socks, and boots for 400 impoverished children in Commerce City and the District 14 attendance area.

Please join Commerce City Rotary Club in celebrating 50 years of giving back to those in need. For questions or to order your fruit, contact Norma Portnoy at 303-853-3279 or nsportnoy@adams14.org.
