Perlmutter Statement on the 10th Anniversary of the 9-11 Attacks

"This weekend marks the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States . This is a time of somber reflection to remember those we lost and support their families and loved ones.

Since 9/11, our nation took significant efforts to successfully prevent terrorism threats at home and abroad. We've thwarted attacks on transatlantic airliners and in Times Square , and others which never make the news. Most significantly, in May, President Obama ordered the historic operation that killed Osama bin Laden. This was the most important victory in our war on terror and our efforts to destroy the Al Qaeda network. Since then our defense forces continue to pursue, capture and kill many more leaders within Al Qaeda.

I will continue to work with our first responders and military personnel to ensure they have the tools they need to keep our communities safe and continue to support the pursuit of terrorist threats. My thoughts and prayers are with all those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001. We are a country of great strength and I am thankful and honor all of those who continue to serve and protect our great nation."
