Adams County Accepting Applications for RTD Board Member Vacancy

The Adams County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for a vacancy on the Regional Transportation District (RTD) Board of Directors for District K.

RTD is governed by a 15-member board of directors elected to represent specific districts. District K is located primarily within the boundaries of Adams County and the Board of Commissioners must appoint a board member until a board member can be elected at the next general election. The role of the Board of Directors is to create and set policies for the Regional Transportation District and delegate authority to the general manager to implement and execute in accordance with the board’s direction.

The vacant board member position must be filled by a candidate who is a qualified elector of District K, at least 18 years of age and a citizen of the United States. This position will be posted on the Adams County website, www.adcogov.org (click on A-Z Services, then Job Openings, then Volunteer/Board Opportunities on the right hand side). You will be required to create a user account to apply. Applications, including a resume, can then be submitted through this recruitment site. The deadline to submit applications is Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011 at 4:30 p.m.

Applications will be screened for eligibility and reviewed by the Board of County Commissioners. The board will identify and interview those candidates who are most qualified. The board will make a final selection on or before Dec. 14, 2011.

District K is 210 square miles with a population of 163,500. The approximate boundaries are as follows:

North – County Hwy 2 from I-25 to Watkins Rd.
East – Watkins Rd. to 120th Ave. then Tower Rd. to Buckley Rd.
South – 56th Ave. to Buckley Rd. to I-25
West – I-25 at US 36, north to County Hwy 2
