District 27J is proud to announce that at their regular meeting on January 24th, the Board of Education selected Brantner Elementary School as the official name of Elementary School #11. Brantner Elementary School is steeped in the history and development of the area in which it is located. The Brantner School District is one of fifteen historic school districts which consolidated with District 27J. There were two previous Brantner schools, the last of which was located at 124th and Riverdale Road at the southwest corner of current Riverdale Golf Course. This school, which served as the center of the community for many years, was officially closed in 1956. Oliver Brantner donated land for the first school within the Brantner School District. Samuel Brantner and nearby farmers created one of the first irrigation ditches in Colorado which ushered the way for irrigated agriculture in the State.
