Help for Homes now accepting applications for minor exterior home repairs

The City of Brighton and Brothers Redevelopment, Inc. are now accepting applications for the 7th Annual Help for Homes for Seniors and the Disabled (HFH) project in our community. The Help for Homes (HFH) brings volunteers and neighbors together to paint or fix up homes needing minor exterior repairs and perform general yard clean-up. This exciting community project will take place on Saturday, May 5, 2012.

Qualifications for this free program are as follows:

1. The homeowner is a senior (age 60 or older) or is permanently disabled. Note that the homeowner must live in the home.

2. The homeowner is a Brighton resident.

3. The homeowner earns no more than $40,200 for a household of one person or $45,900 for a household of two persons.

4. The completed application and required documentation are submitted and received by March 26, 2012 to the Brighton Senior Center in order to be considered for the May 5 work day.

5. All applications and documentation you submit will be strictly confidential and will only be used to make sure that each household receiving materials and services during this project qualifies under the program guidelines and regulations.

Once approved, materials and labor will be provided to get those repairs done. This is a community project where neighbors pitch in to improve their neighborhood. Best of all, it is free if you qualify! Interested homeowners may submit applications through March 26. Applications are available by calling Ermie or Sue at the Eagle View Adult Center at 303-655-2075. Only completed applications accompanied by the required documentation can be accepted for consideration

HFH is also looking for volunteers to help on Saturday, May 5. Those interested in lending a hand, can put together a team of 8-10 friends, family and co-workers, or join a team that is already helping. If you can scrape, paint, do yard work or perform minor home repairs, we need you and your neighbors need you! Call Sue at 303-655-2075 for volunteer applications.

Help for Homes is jointly sponsored by Brothers Redevelopment Inc. and the City of Brighton. Funding is provided by the Legacy Foundation.
