Youth Farmer's Market at Alsup Elementary, Thurs., Aug. 20, 2009, 3:30 to 5:30 pm

This Thursday, Alsup Elementary will host its first Youth Farmer’s Market. The market will be run by students who will be selling locally grown farm produce purchased from Palombo Farms. Partnerships for Healthy Communities has supported the coordination of the Youth Farmer’s Market as a means to bring more fresh produce to the school community, and to determine the feasibility of continued markets.

This is another partnership to further our student wellness initiatives in Adams 14.

In addition to the Farmer’s Market, Community Enterprise will be completing walkability surveys of the Alsup neighborhood. The Commerce City Immigrant Integration group will also be there with information. We are also expecting CSU Extension Services, who will demonstrate cooking techniques with locally grown produce.

Please feel free to stop by to try or buy some fresh and yummy produce. We will have corn, watermelon, zucchini, peppers, and much more. Students will be accepting cash only.
