ARREST MADE AFTER THE DEATH OF TEEN

On October 12, 2009, at approximately 6:00 a.m., the Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for medical assistance in the 7300 block of Highway 85 in unincorporated Adams County. When deputies arrived, they found an unresponsive juvenile female in the parking lot. The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The victim had been involved in a disturbance in the parking lot of a motel. A short time later, an ambulance was requested for the victim.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Joseph Daniel Mascarenas, 18, of New Mexico, in connection with this incident. Mascarenas is being held at the Adams County Detention Facility for investigation of Second Degree Murder. Mascarenas’ bond has been set at $100,000.00.
