Colorado First Lady Jeannie Ritter and Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper delivered a parody this morning of Dr. Seuss’ “Green Eggs and Ham” during the 6th Annual Reach Out and Read Benefit Breakfast at the Denver Botanic Gardens.
“This was such a fun and important event,” said the First Lady. “I can’t say enough about the wonderful work the folks at Reach Out and Read are doing to get children excited about reading and getting books in the hands.”
With 350 patrons on hand, Mrs. Ritter and Mayor Hickenlooper delivered the Seuss parody, which was titled, “Green Eggs & Hamlet.” Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit the local chapter.
Reach Out and Read (ROR) is a national nonprofit organization with a Colorado chapter that promotes early childhood literacy by giving new books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud. Participating doctors and nurses believe that growing up healthy means growing up with books.
