Washington, DC –Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) announced the latest numbers for education jobs in the 7th Congressional District funded by the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA).
To date, Jefferson County Public Schools received more than $43 million in ARRA grants to fund more than 418 jobs.
“For our schools, this funding is critical not only to ensure our children receive the highest quality education, but to keep dedicated and hard working teachers and others employed,” said Perlmutter. “The ARRA is first and foremost a jobs bill, and to see this kind of funding and this many jobs benefitting from ARRA grants just in Jefferson County , demonstrates the reach and impact this bill will have in rebuilding our economy, our communities and our families.”
“Overall, in the 7th Congressional District, ARRA is directly responsible for funding more than 1,800 jobs in the education, transportation infrastructure, law enforcement, sustainable design, renewable energy and youth summer programs and many other areas where data is being gathered. Rebuilding our economy is a top priority for me and I anticipate many more job opportunities and investments to come from this legislation.”
“Over $500 million in investments were made in the 7th CD since February as a result of ARRA. These investments highlight the important work of the world class companies and facilities in the district and are critical to improving our economy and easing the squeeze felt by so many of the hardworking people in our state.”
On February 17, 2009, President Obama signed ARRA at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.
