The Adams County Board of Commissioners is pleased to honor Lisa Montoya as Adams County's 2009 Employee of the Year. Lisa has been involved with the Adams County Head Start program for many years, beginning as a Head Start student, then as a parent of a child in the program and now as an employee of seven years. In that time, she has worked her way up to her current position as lead cook, where she excels at supervising three assistant cooks through her effective team building and supportive approach to her employees’ professional growth and development.
Responsible for all aspects of food production within the program, she turns out 800 meals and snacks daily for children. Additionally, her nutrition team prepares snacks for 84 home-based students’ programs and field trips while providing food services for the Head Start Culture Festival and Reading Carnival.
“Lisa’s positive, friendly and professional demeanor are a tremendous asset to the Head Start program and to Adams County children and families,” said Chairman Alice J. Nichol. “She goes beyond preparing nutritious meals for children by delivering great customer service, increasing parent participation to enhance program activities and fostering a constructive work environment. She is an excellent role model and I’m proud to recognize her great work.”
Lisa has established a reputation among her coworkers as patient, respectful and willing to assist others when needed. Dedicated to her job and the Head Start program, she consistently performs beyond expectations to ensure uninterrupted delivery of high-quality nutrition for children. Lisa is recognized as a valued and dedicated employee, an asset to her department and a credit to the community. It is a pleasure to acknowledge her as an outstanding Adams County employee, and Adams County’s 2009 Employee of the Year.
Adams County currently has approximately 1,800 employees who serve the county’s 450,000 residents. To become Employee of the Year, employees are nominated by their coworkers, and each month a committee selects one nominee for the Employee of the Month Award. It is from these 12 employees that the Employee of the Year is chosen.
