The Commerce City Police are getting together for coffee and doughnuts with citizens in an innovative program designed to bring officers and the community together. The program was designed by the Commerce City Police Department to provide citizens the opportunity to ask questions of police officers regarding crime, traffic, quality of life issues, crime prevention or a host of other questions.Officers will be available to answer questions or just chat with anyone who comes to share in this event. The doughnut eating will commence on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, between 8 and 10 a.m. at Tasty Donuts, 6441 E. 72nd Pl.
Chief of Police Philip J. Baca and other police personnel will have the opportunity to engage the community in a non-traditional police setting. Officers will be available to answers any questions that citizens may have regarding police and crime issues, and also to promote partnerships within the community.
Coffee with a Cop sessions will continue at different coffee shop venues throughout the city, one morning a month. Officers from different areas of the department will attend these sessions. If an officer cannot answer your question, they will work on getting an answer and follow-up with you.
