Commerce City Police Apprehend Suspects From Home Invasion in Progress

COMMERCE CITY ― On Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 08:49 a.m., Commerce City police officers responded to the 10700 block of Akron Street reference a suspicious vehicle.

Officers were told a male from the suspicious vehicle went into a residence in the 10700 block of Akron Street. Officers attempted make contact at the residence and walked into a home invasion in progress. An adult female and her two young children were inside the residence at the time of the invasion.

The suspects fled the scene on foot. Three suspects were taken into custody shortly after the incident, and the fourth suspect was taken into custody in the 8100 block of E. 104th Way at approximately 12:45 p.m.

The residence in the 10700 block of Akron Street is believed to be the location of a large marijuana grow.

Belle Creek Charter School was placed on lock-in until 1:00 p.m. The school district is currently working on getting the students home for the day.

Police also have E. 104th Avenue from Brighton Boulevard to McKay Street shut down.

No one was injured during the incident.
