GOV. RITTER APPLAUDS PRESIDENT FOR HELPING TO PROTECT COLO. SPACE JOBS

Gov. Bill Ritter today applauded President Obama for recognizing the importance of Colorado jobs and the Orion project as part of the country’s future in outer space.

“I am gratified that President Obama is including the Orion Project in his vision for the future of space travel and space exploration,” Gov. Ritter said. “Nearly 170,000 Coloradans work in the aerospace sector, with nearly 4,000 of them directly and indirectly involved in the Orion Project. We asked President Obama to consider these jobs as he leads America toward a new chapter in outer space, and the White House heeded our call. I will continue to work closely with the Obama administration and our congressional delegation to ensure the program is solidly funded, that these jobs are protected and that Orion remains a strong part of America’s strategy for future space flight.”
