The Commerce City Police Department is investigating an industrial accident that resulted in the death of a man on Friday afternoon.At around 3:30pm, officers and ambulance personnel responded to the Volvo of Denver dealership at 7250 E 56th Ave, in Commerce City, on a report of an industrial accident involving a tow truck operator.
A 53 year old tow operator for Joe’s Towing and Recovery Service was in the process of unloading a semi truck from his tow wrecker when the semi rolled off of the support blocks and onto the operator. The tow operator appeared to be working underneath the semi truck, while controlling the wrecker operation via remote control at the time of the accident. The male was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing. Questions regarding towing operation and safety procedures are to be directed to the Joe’s Towing manager, Dale Fox, at 720-226-6607.
