Adams County was awarded a 2009 Lottery Starburst Conservation Award in public hearing on Monday, Oct. 5, 2009. The award was presented to the Adams County Board of Commissioners for the county’s use of lottery funds to implement the South Platte River Heritage Corridor Plan. The plan provides for the preservation and enhancement of natural, cultural and recreational resources on the South Platte River Corridor. To complete the project, Adams County has partnered with landowners, the Division of Wildlife, the Trust for Public Land, mining companies, Urban Drainage and Flood Control District and the Adams County Open Space Grant Program. Colorado Lottery Starburst Awards recognize excellence in using lottery proceeds for projects that promote community building, partnerships, conservation and commitment to the recreational needs of Colorado residents.
